Anthropic locked in permanent access rules for Claude Fable 5 on July 20, 2026, and Pro and Team Standard subscribers now get a one-time $100 usage credit to use the model.
Pro and Team Standard users receive a one-time $100 credit for Fable 5, applied automatically with no coupon code needed
Max and Team Premium subscribers get Fable 5 bundled into their plan at no extra cost, capped at 50% of normal weekly usage limits
Once the $100 credit runs out, Pro users move to pay-as-you-go pricing at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens
What changed on July 20

Claude brought Fable 5 to paid subscribers with fixed access limits and a $100 credit for eligible users after a rollout that included a temporary pullback and multiple extensions. Pro and Team Standard users continue to access Fable via usage credits and receive a one-time $100 credit, while Max and Team Premium plans include Fable 5 at 50% of standard limits.
How to claim it
There's no signup, waitlist, or code to enter. The credit applies automatically to eligible accounts. To use it:
Open claude.ai on web, desktop, or mobile, or open Claude Code in your terminal
Click the model selector (in Claude Code, type /model)
Choose Claude Fable 5 from the list
Start working. The credit deducts automatically as you use the model
The catch
After the $100 credit runs out, continued Fable 5 access requires paying API rates of $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens, the steepest pricing for any Claude model in general availability.
A session producing 2 million output tokens, modest for an autonomous multi-file coding job or a deep document analysis run, costs exactly $100, using up the entire credit in one sitting.
Fable 5 has had a bumpy year. It launched free on June 9, went dark on June 12 under US export controls, came back July 1, and Anthropic pushed the paid-tier deadline back twice before settling on July 20 as the permanent cutoff.
