Google has started rolling out a new voice search design in its Android app.

The update brings a fresh and modern look. It replaces the old interface that stayed the same for many years.

The new design matches Google’s latest AI features, including Gemini and AI Mode. Early users began seeing the update on January 19, 2026.

The rollout is gradual and server-side, so not everyone will see it at once.

Google aims to make voice search feel smarter, cleaner, and more connected to its AI-driven search experience.

New Google Voice Search Android: New Design Brings a Modern AI Look

The biggest change is the visual style. Google has removed the old four-dot waveform. It now shows a colorful arc animation at the bottom of the screen.

Key Design Changes

  • Centered gradient “G” logo
  • Back button and settings icon at the top
  • Four-color arc animation replaces old dots
  • Design matches AI Mode and Search Live
  • Updated dark theme with a cleaner look

The screen still shows the “Listening…” message with the familiar face icon. The changes focus on clarity and consistency across Google’s AI tools.

This redesign helps voice search feel like part of Google’s AI ecosystem, not a separate feature.

New Features and Smarter Controls

Google also added several useful upgrades to improve daily use.

Voice Search Feature Updates

  • Bigger “Search a song” button
  • Dedicated song search with Play, Sing, Hum
  • Easy access to song search history
  • Quick voice settings via three-dot menu
  • Language selection options
  • Toggle spoken results on or off
  • Four new voices: Cosmo, Neso, Terra, Cassini

Users can access voice search from the home screen widget or inside the Google app. Pixel users also get quick access.

The update is rolling out with Google app versions 17.1 (stable) and 17.2 (beta). Even with the latest version, the change may take time to appear.

This redesign is part of Google’s larger plan to refresh Android interfaces. Recent updates include Circle to Search and deeper Gemini integration.

With this move, Google shows that voice search is no longer basic. It is now a key part of its AI-powered future.
