Claude’s Dispatch Feature Is Changing How You Work — And It Is Still in Beta

Anthropic's Claude has quietly rolled out one of its most practically exciting features of 2026 — and most people have not heard of it yet. It is called Dispatch, and it is currently in beta as part of Claude's broader Cowork platform.

In simple terms, Dispatch lets you control Claude's work on your desktop computer directly from your phone, turning your mobile device into a remote control for an AI agent that is actively working on your behalf.

What Exactly Is Dispatch?

Claude's Dispatch Feature Is Changing How You Work

Dispatch is a feature built on top of Claude Cowork, which itself launched as a generally available product in April 2026 on both macOS and Windows through the Claude Desktop app.

While Cowork gives Claude access to your local files, apps, and connectors — essentially letting it function as a knowledge-work agent on your computer — Dispatch adds the critical mobile bridge. You scan a QR code once, and from that point your phone stays connected to your desktop Claude session via a persistent conversation thread.

The implications are straightforward but powerful. You can be away from your desk — on a commute, in a meeting, or simply in another room — and still send Claude instructions from your phone. Ask it to update a slide, pull data from a spreadsheet, draft an email, or check a file, and Claude will execute the task on your computer while you are away. When you get back to your desk, everything is done.

Anthropic officially shipped the first version of Dispatch on March 17, 2026, rolling it out first to Max plan users and then to Pro plan users within two days.

A significant upgrade came on March 23, 2026, when Anthropic added computer use integration to Dispatch — meaning Claude can now not only work with files and connectors but can also point, click, and navigate your screen directly on your behalf while you are away.

This expanded what Dispatch could do from structured file tasks to almost anything you would normally do yourself on a computer.

Who Can Use It Right Now?

Dispatch is currently available in beta on Pro and Max plans through the Claude Desktop app and the Claude mobile app for iOS and Android. As of July 7, 2026, Anthropic also began rolling out Claude Cowork to web and mobile — meaning Cowork sessions now run remotely and your files and progress persist across devices even when your laptop is closed.

Why It Matters

What makes Dispatch genuinely different from other AI productivity tools is that it does not ask you to adapt to a new interface. You are simply messaging Claude the same way you would message a person, and Claude handles the rest on your actual computer with your actual files. Early users have called it the closest thing to having a real AI assistant rather than a chatbot.

As Dispatch continues its beta rollout, Anthropic is expected to expand access to Team and Enterprise plans in the coming months. For now, Pro and Max subscribers can get started by setting up Claude Cowork on Claude Desktop and enabling Dispatch from the mobile app.
