Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, marking a historic milestone as the first major global AI summit hosted in the Global South.

The five-day event, running from February 16 to 20, brings together world leaders, technology executives, policymakers, and AI innovators from over 30 countries to discuss real-world AI applications across critical sectors.

The summit features over 300 curated exhibition pavilions and live demonstrations spread across 10 arenas covering more than 70,000 square metres.

More than 600 startups and 13 country pavilions are participating, with the event expected to attract over 2.5 lakh visitors including international delegates.

The India AI Impact Expo runs alongside the summit, showcasing AI applications in real-world settings under three thematic pillars – People, Planet, and Progress.

From Theory to Real-World Deployment

Unlike previous global AI summits focused primarily on ethics and principles, this event centers on how governments build, buy, and deploy AI systems at scale.

Key sessions cover AI for road safety, smart agriculture, judicial ecosystem transformation, and the future of work and learning.

A special initiative, “HER First Algorithm,” run in partnership with NITI Aayog, invites women in technology to create AI solutions for large public problems, promoting inclusive innovation from the Global South.
