This new program unifies Vi’s existing safety and security measures while introducing advanced AI capabilities to shield consumers, its robust network, and crucial enterprise clients from the relentless barrage of spam, scams, and sophisticated cyber-attacks. Unveiled at the prestigious India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025, Vi Protect introduces two pivotal components designed to proactively counter digital threats. For consumers, Vi introduces an innovative AI-based Voice Spam Detection system, a crucial tool in the fight against pervasive fraudulent calls. Simultaneously, the company fortifies its core network operations with an AI-driven network defense and incident response system, promising unparalleled accuracy and speed in neutralizing cyber threats.
The new voice spam detection system actively identifies and flags fraudulent and spam calls in real-time. Leveraging advanced AI models, comprehensive web crawlers, and valuable user feedback, the system pinpoints suspicious callers before their calls even reach the customer. When a Vi user receives a call from a number identified as potentially fraudulent, their phone screen prominently displays a ‘Suspected Spam’ notification, empowering them to make an informed decision on whether to answer. Vi emphasizes that this feature operates natively within its network, promising superior accuracy and enhanced privacy compared to third-party caller ID applications.
